The idyllic retreat
Hundreds of years ago in Japan, farmers discovered cats nestling in handwoven baskets made for cradling babies. Cats, like babies, were instinctively drawn to these enchanted straw beds.

Inspired by the traditional baskets, NekoHut reconnects modern cats with nature. The house is reminiscent of a secluded, protective cave. The tight weave and texture provide natural insulation for all seasons. And the soothing scent of straw calms and relaxes. Each NekoHut, masterfully handcrafted over many days, is a labor of love.
Each NekoHut is handcrafted from renewable, dried stalks from the harvesting process. Through careful selection of straw and skilled weaving, artisans transform agricultural by-product into eco-friendly cat houses. Every element comes together to create a house that doesn't just look beautiful, but feels beautiful.
This was an adventure inspired by Tabby. We noticed he was especially fond of cat beds made from natural materials. So, we were so excited to learn about neko chigura, the traditional straw cat house that Tabby was sure to adore. But they were impossible to find. Not ready to give up on the perfect retreat for Tabby, we embarked on a journey to explore the art of basket weaving. Two years later, Tabby finally got his NekoHut and loved it beyond purrs.
